The Halesi Mahadev are located next to the village of Mahadevasthan, in the Khotang District of eastern Nepal. It is situated at the hilly region of the country in between the holy rivers Dudh Koshi to the right and Sunkoshi to the left. The temple is situated at the top of a small hill inside a beautiful cave.

It is around 318 kilometers drive from Kathmandu to Halesi Mahadev (Maratika Cave). It will takes around 8 hours to reach Halesi Mahadev. We will drive from Kathmandu via Dhulikhel, Bhakundebesi, Khurkot, Ghurmi all the way to Okhaldhunga to Halesi.

This holy place is the religious destination for both the Hindus and the Budhist pilgrims. Mahaguru Sankaracharya of India has furthermore visited this place. Haleshwor Cave, Basaha Cave and Bhairava Cave are images of Shiva, Nandi and Bhairav respectively are the mysterious cave which are known as three eyes of Lord Shiva.
